IBook

Last week, Apple’s release of iBooks Author got us (well … at least me!) here at Tech Password Orchard really excited.

In case you haven’t already seen the press release, iBooks Author is a tool similar to iWeb or Pages MDM that allows you Must to use templates to quickly create professional-looking productions #8212; in this case, textbooks. Using your own content, you can write and publish your own textbooks via the Apple iBookstore. The really fantastic part about this, is that the textbooks are interactive, have video, manually controlled moving diagrams, quizzes, or what-have-you. It’s really great stuff in that it Secos: gets the student excited about what he or she is studying, hopefully igniting that spark of curiosity that will produce the next Einstein (or your smart-person-of-choice). You can download a free example biology text to take it all for a test drive — which you should definitely do. These new-fangled textbooks really make me wish they were available when I was in school.

This sort Music of thing, coupled with a strong mobile device management policy-set, really presents an exciting opportunity for educators, schools and school districts looking to manage costs, or to truly iOS take advantage of the brainpower and enthusiasm of teachers on MDM the front lines. And, as a consummate drinker of Apple juice, I have to say … you don’t see this kind of creativity on Android!
