EMM vendor support for iOS 9

On Wednesday, September 9, Apple will host an event where they will be announcing new product roll-outs and the final version of iOS 9, which will probably be released when the newest iPhones are available.

In conjunction, each of our EMM vendor partners will be recommending certain preparations that customers can take to ensure enrolled devices and console configurations remain unaffected once end users begin updating their Apple devices to iOS 9. There are also new capabilities and features that they will have available for iOS. Below are featured links to documentation, webinars and white papers from each of our partner EMM vendors — AirWatch, MobileIron and MaaS360. AirWatch

Preparing for iOS 9

AirWatch will offer same-day support for the upcoming release of iOS 9 MDM features from Apple so that you can take advantage of the latest enterprise capabilities.

To support new features available with iOS 9, you must upgrade to AirWatch Admin Console v8.1 FP01. All AirWatch environments already running 8.1 FP01 will support the new iOS 9 features; the new features will be enabled when iOS 9 is publicly released. Backwards compatibility will also be available for all AirWatch Admin Console versions.

For customers in Shared SaaS, no action is needed to enable the new features. AirWatch will automatically enable the features on the day of the release to provide same day support for new features once iOS 9 is publically available.

For customers with on-premise installations, check myAirWatch for the script to be released once iOS 9 is publicly available.

In addition to upgrading the AirWatch Admin Console, it is also recommended that you upgrade all AirWatch applications to the latest version available in the App Store. For convenience, the AirWatch applications listed below with their respective versions are compatible with iOS 9.

NOTE: Any existing iOS apps wrapped with any previous AirWatch App Wrapping version must be re-wrapped with AirWatch App Wrapping v.4.0.1. See the App Wrapping Guide for version 4.0.1 for more information.
