Disney recently announced via Twitter (@DisneyProjects) that it would be rolling out a pilot program to deploy a fleet of iPads to its park employees. Disney plans to use a custom app for a fast-pass system that will allow park-goers to purchase RFID tagged passes that will allow early/special access to rides.
After a guest scans their card, the Cast Member uses a waterproof iPad to see the information from the card (including FP time & other Q&A).

Park attendants (Cast Members) and employees will be using RFID-equipped iPads (with a custom RFID accessory) to manage the timing of guest access. If you’ve been to Disneyland before, you know how crowded the rides and attractions get, and how annoying those lines can be. The hope is that with the new system being tested in the pilot, guests will receive their RFID bracelets with their pre-purchased ride tickets. The guests will then scan their wristbands at a kiosk or with a Cast Member’s iPad. The Cast Member will use this registration system to more efficiently manage line formation and ride participation, utlimately cutting down on line bloat and crying babies.
