Feb. 14, 2012 — /PRNewswire/ — Fiberlink®, the leader in software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for secure mobile device and application management, today announced that St. Vincent’s Hospital selected MaaS360 for mobile device and application management. St. Vincent’s Hospital is part of Australia’s largest not-for-profit healthcare provider and a center for innovation and excellence for clinical care, research and teaching. MaaS360 provides surgeons, clinicians and administrative staff with secure access to clinical information systems and critical apps that help St. Vincent’s provide world-class patient care.

St. Vincent’s experienced a surge in requests to use mobile devices for clinical purposes. With a mix of corporate-issued and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) smartphones and tablets, IT needed to quickly deploy a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform to secure devices and protect confidential patient data. MaaS360’s cloud-based management console enables IT to support all devices and operating systems, across multiple platforms including iOS and Android. MaaS360’s Mobile Application Management (MAM) features give St. Vincent’s staff access to a catalog of pre-authorized private and public apps, available directly on their mobile devices. Healthcare providers easily access test results, patient histories and radiological scans to more efficiently assist patients.

“With MaaS360, our employees are able to use smartphones and tablets to efficiently provide enhanced healthcare services,” said Peter Param, manager of IT security, St. Vincent’s Hospital. “We needed a solution that could be deployed quickly and effectively with the ability to react rapidly to lost or stolen devices and protect sensitive patient data. Now, doctors and clinicians have come to rely on their smartphones to access integrated clinical information systems.”

St. Vincent’s conducted an exhaustive search of MDM platforms and narrowed their choices to solutions by AirWatch and Fiberlink. “When run side-by-side, we preferred MaaS360 for its cloud deployment model and resulting efficiency in deployment management,” commented Param. “The Airwatch solution would have required us to deploy a separate architecture to run it.” MaaS360 was seamlessly deployed within a week with no additional infrastructure changes, and apps were immediately delivered to users. With MaaS360’s cloud-based architecture, there were no servers to install, no complex configurations or infrastructure changes and no investment in expensive business software.

“MaaS360 provides the visibility, agility and automated controls St. Vincent’s needs to manage mobile devices from a centralized console,” said Christopher Clark, chief operating officer at Fiberlink. “MaaS360’s brings effective device and application
